Trail’s End Popcorn - Show and Sell Dates and Times

Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Check the Pack Calendar for the Dates and Locations

Don’t forget to look through the email that Andrea sent out and begin making plans for your son’s to participate in the Show and Sells for Popcorn. I’m excited this year that we have a number of Morrisville locations (the new WalMart and Sam’s Club) that should help us sell popcorn and work to our advantage in recruiting new scouts in the Morrisville area. I know that things are busy, but please support our Pack and Leopolda as she helps us be successful.

  1. Saturday, September. 26th - Harris Teeter/Harrison Pointe
  2. Sunday, September 27th - Harris Teeter/Davis Drive
  3. Sunday, October 4th - Lowe’s Home Improvement (corner of Maynard/Chapel Hill Road)
  4. Saturday, October 10th - Walmart/Morrisville
  5. Sunday, October 11th - Sam’s Club/Morrisville (has been scheduled for 10 am - 4pm)
  6. Saturday, October 17th - Walmart/Morrisville (more scouts needed)
  7. Sunday, October 18th - Triangle Church (for church members only)

Please note that she is going to need a few volunteers to help with keeping track of Pack totals and will need a couple of people to help the District when the popcorn arrives to aid in unloading and distribution. They have asked for at least two volunteers from each Den and I believe that they need some people this week to do this and they will definitely need help when the final orders come in in November. I will ask that if you haven’t volunteered for an activity to please volunteer to help your den leaders with this to allow them to focus on the boy’s programs and please talk with Leopolda on Thursday to let her know who from our Pack can help with the District unloading and distribution.

What is a Chuckwagon Derby?
A Den pulls a covered wagon from station to station while doing different skills. The wagon must be made by the Den and Must have a free standing Den Flag. The Wagon can be as simple as a regular child’s wagon with an arched cover. Some packs have home made wooden wagons that they made some time ago for past Chuckwagon Derbies. You can get some ideas from the “How To” book and from going to Google (search for “Cub Scout Chuckwagon Derby Plans“) Try to make your wagons authentic as possible. You will need to bring a bag lunch to have on the trail while you go from station to station. Your wagons will need to have some materials in them to use at some of the stations. There will be Sheriffs on the trails that will check your wagons for the supplies.
