Last weekend’s campout and upcoming meeting

Monday, May 24th, 2010

All,

I hope you had as much fun as I did on the campout. We made it back with just a couple of scrapes, bug bites and one bunny burn, but I think the boys were sufficiently worn out and enjoyed themselves. I know Brian Flack took a lot of pictures and hopefully we have many others as well.

A big thanks to the Boy Scouts and Mr. Rudy and Mr. Bill for coordinating the compass, archery, and BB gun range activities. I think everyone had a great time and we appreciated the Older Boy Scout’s help and support.

Just a couple of meeting notes, none of the cub scout dens will have a regular meeting this week due to the campout (other than the Webelos II, who had an already planned cookout for Tuesday, so Kelly will get you all details).

So our next meeting will be on June 8 and then we’ll meet again on June 22. The June 22 regular meeting will be converted to a Pack meeting and we will give out all of the earned badge/rank advancements at this hour-long celebration of our year. Leaders, we will have a meeting on Thursday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at the building to coordinate for the Pack meeting and awards and to coordinate plans for the summer (end of summer bike ride, Camping trip scheduled for late September, etc.). Any other parents who would like to join us are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Thanks again to everyone for a great campout that I’m sure is etched in our kids minds. My kids have been talking about the Vindow Viper all morning.

Pirate Campout Details

Monday, May 10th, 2010

Pack 393 Pirate Campout:

What is this? – Pack Spring campout. We will be using the Cape Fear Council’s BSA Camp. Several of Troop 393’s scouts will be joining us and helping to run some pirate treasure hunts with compasses. In addition, we will be using the camp’s archery and BB ranges. There is also a full-sized wooden pirate ship and we will be organizing some pirate war games with marshmallow shooters, so please remember to bring the one’s we made last year with you (or the one’s you received from selling popcorn so that you can make the Cubmaster walk the plank).

This should be a family campout to remember, so hopefully you have saved the date.

Thursday’s leader meeting postponed

Thursday, May 6th, 2010

All,

Apologies for having to postpone from Thursday, but my son’s first baseball game is that night and I need to be there to cheer him on. In lieu of the meeting Thursday, I will get details out to the pack on the campout in a couple of weeks and ask our leaders to stay until 8:45 next Tuesday after our meeting is over at 8:15 to coordinate plans for the bridging and to help with a few other logistics. I think overall the events of the weekend are mostly planned with help from our troop. The main thing I need is some help with the campfire (ideas for the bridging) and the food.

Thanks everyone and I’ll see you next Tuesday night at the meeting (and briefly afterwards).
