Both events are free as they are public facilities. The Smithsonian does take donations and there is a gift shop, so you may not get out completely free. 

Camping – Free for Scouts and family who have sold Popcorn – you’ve paid your dues. For new families who would like to go – you can’t get into the White House at this point, but you can attend the campout. The cost is $20 per person to pay for the reduced costs per person of attending the Parent/Son overnighter and pay for the dinner on Saturday and breakfast Sunday.

Additional costs: Family dinner out on Friday night and lunch on Saturday at the Smithsonian. Also, a daily Metro pass will cost $12.50 for the day. So, each person should plan on additional costs of about $30 per person for meals and passes, plus any souvenirs you may want to pick up.

Leaders meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday September 7th

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

On the Agenda:

1) Round-up. I’m getting calls and emails since the Scouts were able to get info in the schools. We have 2 tigers who came out to the open house meet and greet at the building on Sept. 28th, one new bear and I just got an email from a potential new Webelos I. I expect that we are going to grow by a few more given the interest, so we need to make sure we are prepared. I expect we’ll have several new boys there on September 14.
2) September DC Campout – we need to make sure we have all the details, schedules and food ironed out for the campout and items divvied up to make sure this goes well.
3) Popcorn. Melissa, we need to get an update as I know you will need to schedule a meeting with the boys and I’m not sure if you’ll need to do that on the 14th or just want to wait until the 28th when we get back from the campout as the campout weekend is the start of the sales.

If there is something else, please let me know and we’ll add it to the agenda.
