Leaders/Parent Meeting Tuesday at 7:00

Tuesday, October 5th, 2010

All,

We will have a leaders meeting on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. at the Church Building. I’m sending this out to all of the new parents as we welcome your participation and input.

At this meeting, we will be planning out the upcoming events through our recharter period in March, so it is likely to go a little longer than usual (probably to around 8:30).

On the schedule for this time period.

1) Plans for a November Pack Meeting

2) Cary Christmas Parade in December

3) Popcorn sales and party

4) Pinewood Derby in January

5) Blue and Gold Banquet and Webelos II bridging to boy scouts in February

6) Spring camping event

We will be looking for some parents to participate in committees with these events as the help is vital to our Pack having great events.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing many of you on Tuesday.

Leaders meeting 7 p.m. Tuesday September 7th

Wednesday, September 1st, 2010

On the Agenda:

1) Round-up. I’m getting calls and emails since the Scouts were able to get info in the schools. We have 2 tigers who came out to the open house meet and greet at the building on Sept. 28th, one new bear and I just got an email from a potential new Webelos I. I expect that we are going to grow by a few more given the interest, so we need to make sure we are prepared. I expect we’ll have several new boys there on September 14.
2) September DC Campout – we need to make sure we have all the details, schedules and food ironed out for the campout and items divvied up to make sure this goes well.
3) Popcorn. Melissa, we need to get an update as I know you will need to schedule a meeting with the boys and I’m not sure if you’ll need to do that on the 14th or just want to wait until the 28th when we get back from the campout as the campout weekend is the start of the sales.

If there is something else, please let me know and we’ll add it to the agenda.

Important - Upcoming Training

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Leaders,
Here are the next training dates (see below). If you are a uniformed leader, a committee member or another registered adult (or you would like to be), please mark your calendar and plan to attend one of the following training event.

Part of our annual application for Quality Unit status inquires about what percentage of our registered adults are trained for their positions with the pack. Let’s just say we need to put more focus on getting everyone properly qualified, especially folks who sit on Pack Committee and folks who wear the BSA uniform. Training may not be your first choice activity for a Saturday this fall, but it assures a safe, quality program for our scouts and the BSA expects it, so why not make this year the year to get it done?

All adults need Youth Protection (online). New rules from BSA National states that this must be renewed every two years.

BALOO training is August 21. There must be at least one adult BALOO trained per pack for the pack to go camping. And that trained adult must be on the camping trip. At this point, we only have two BALOO trained adults. If you can attend this training, please do so. This is the only opportunity this year.

Sept 28th is MEGA training. This will provide any training for any position (except BALOO) available in the pack - including any volunteer or committee position. Please please sign up.

Oct 23 and Nov 11 & 18 will also provide extensive training.

Our pack will reimburse you for the cost of the training. Please feel free to email me if you have any questions.

Thank you.
Bobbi

Pack Summer Schedule

Thursday, June 3rd, 2010

All,

A few of us met and scheduled us out into the early part of September, so I wanted to get that out to everyone.

The schedule for meetings is as follows:
June 8 – regular meeting
Monday – June 21 – Pack Meeting – we will be giving out all of the advancements for the boys who have earned their rank badges (Bear, Wolf, etc.). Please have your boys bring their books with all of their signed off information for the den leaders to sign off on at the regular meeting this coming Tuesday. If you can’t be there, please forward any advancement notifications to your den leader so that they can prepare to award those at this Pack Meeting. We had to move it to Monday due to several folks with Swim Team conflicts on Tuesday night.
July 13 – regular meeting
July 27 – regular meeting
August 10 – regular meeting
No meeting on August 24, but we will have a Bike ride on Saturday, August 28. More details on that at a later date, but we are planning to combine this with all of the Pack getting their biking belt loop, so save the date.

Also, save the dates of September 24-26 as this is when we have scheduled to take a Pack camping trip to Washington, DC and we are working on trying to get a tour of the White House. More on this trip as we confirm those details.

Should be a fun time, I know that many folks will have vacations and some are going to Cub Scout Day Camps and such. This schedule should hopefully help everyone with planning their schedules.

Thanks,

Randy

Our 100th Post - Leaders Meeting on Thursday

We will have a brief 1 hour leaders meeting on Thursday at the building.

3. Late summer bike ride organization
4. Early planning for Fall DC Campout in late September
5. Need for an Assistant Cubmaster to step in for the coming year (don’t worry, I’m not going anywhere, but I want to start identifying someone to take over and train with me hopefully for the coming year).
