All,
I had a great time at the Blue and Gold and enjoyed seeing the Webelos II bridge over into Boy Scouting. I want to send a special thanks again to Marilyn and Brian Adams, who are new to the Pack and I thought did a great job (with help from some vets) of decorating and making the day special for the boys. My sons (and daughters) had a great time.
Just a couple of reminders:
We do have den meetings this Tuesday night at 6:45 at the building. We then have the Pinewood Derby coming up on Saturday and I’m sure Brian will be getting more details out about that in the next couple of days.
Following that, we will have our representatives to the District Pinewood Derby racing at the District event on March 6th (the following weekend, hard to believe it is already March). Also that first week of March, we have a Pack meeting on Tuesday, March 2 so be sure to get your Den leaders any achievements and belt loops that your son has earned this coming Tuesday so that he/she can let Vivek know for the awards at the Pack meeting.
Finally, there will be a committee meeting on Thursday, March 4 and all leaders and any parents are invited to be there. This will be an important one as we plan out the rest of the spring and make plans for the other den bridging. So leaders, please come prepared to provide an update on where the boys are and if there is anything that we need to do to get the boys ready to move on to their new dens by the end of May.
Thanks and I look forward to seeing all of you at the Pinewood Derby next Saturday. Also note that we will be re-chartering the Pack at the Pinewood Derby, so please plan to sign your boy up for another great year of scouting.
Have a great start to the week and I’ll see many of you on Tuesday night.
Randy

Hey everyone,
I have confirmed our February camping trip for Carver Falls. It is a beautiful property with waterfalls that you can hear while you’re camping! It has lots of great hiking also. It is a private property that only boy scouts can use. There is electricity and running water at the mill house and porta johns for our use. The camping trip is set for the weekend of February 27th. The cost is $10 a person. The location is in Cumberland County just south of Fayetteville. I will need someone to meet the person in charge to give us a key to the mill house at 4:00 PM on that Friday. Let me know if you would be available.
Thanks and let me know if you have any questions.

Hello Scouts and Families,
You are invited to join us for Sunday Services at Triangle Church (Sunday School at 10 a.m. to 10:40 and Church from about 10:50 to 11:45 a.m.) as this Sunday, February 7 is Scout Sunday and the 100th anniversary of Boy Scouts in America. If you can attend, please have the boys wear their Class A full uniform (hats, scarves and blue or tan shirts). I am not sure if some of our scouts or leaders will be doing anything as a part of the service, but we’ll look to try to all sit together, if possible.
Wendy and I teach the 3rd grade class on Sunday mornings, but I’ll see if someone can look out for those visiting with us on Sunday.
Hope to see you there and have a great week.
Randy

All,
Here are the details for this Saturday.
Tim is going to bring the trailer to the Lowe’s parking lot at 10 a.m. (This is the Lowe’s at Maynard and NC54 near downtown Cary). We will decorate the trailer and many of the boys will be able to ride in the “float”. Following the decorating, we will be free to grab lunch separately or together. Then we have to have our float over at Martin Architectural: 511 East Chatham Street. We need to have our float in line at 1 p.m. and all of the boys who are riding or walking need to be at our location in the line no later than 1:15. This location is near the start of the parade route which goes into downtown Cary and turns and goes by the Cary Elementary (which is where you will need to pick up your boys). As many of the parents who can join us are welcome, but know that many will be walking.
Also note that they are saying the high for Saturday right now is going to be 39 degrees and there is even talk of a chance of a cold rain or snow (which will make it feel like Christmas). This will be the coldest we’ve ever had during a parade, so make sure your scouts are bundled up warmly. Especially if they are riding in the trailer. We won’t be going fast enough to get wind chill, but it sure sounds like it is going to be cold. Keep a watch on the local weather and plan accordingly.
A few notes for parade day:
- East Cedar, East Chatham, and South Academy Streets will close at 1:00 p.m. through the end of the parade.
- At the end of the parade pick up all Walkers, Riders, etc. at Cary Elementary.
- No Parking along the parade route.
- Parking is limited in the area, so carpooling is encouraged.
- If your group has a vehicle and walkers, the vehicle will line up on East Cedar Street, and the walkers must line up in Urban Park. They will be brought together at the beginning of the parade. (Note that I plan to keep all of ours together, but they may make our walkers go to Urban Park. If this is the case, I’m going to ask that the Boy Scouts volunteer to be our “walkers” in Urban Park and they can then pick up with us all on the route)
- As your group reaches the end of the parade, please move onto the sidewalks behind the other parade watchers and stay out of the street. It is a safety hazard if people are in the street while the parade is running.
It should be a lot of fun. Not sure if anyone wants to volunteer to have hot chocolate or cider for the boys once they get done, but it might not be a bad idea given the current weather schedule. I’ll follow up with our exact location in the line so people know the spot to look for.
Thanks, and I’ll see many of you on Thursday night at our meeting.
Randy
P.S. Don’t forget to bring $5 for your derby car kit. I will have them there at the meeting.
