From the page:

Tell us what you’re willing to do to be thrifty, and you could be taking a trip to Philadelphia, Pa., the home of Benjamin Franklin, the “American Apostle of Thrift.” It’s easy to enter — just click on the “Enter the Contest” tab at the top of the page.

Plus, we’ll send a free Thrift Patch to the first 5,000 people who enter.

Bear Cubs - Achievement Update 07-09-09

Friday, July 10th, 2009

Parents,
Thursday we created Patch Frames out of some PVC pipe and Flour Sack Cloth. I ran across this project online and found that we could find a cool way to display our earned patches.

The scouts learned a blanket stitch to secure their fabric. From our last project, the corn hole game set, we found that the glue did not dry fast enough and our beans leaked through the holes. Be that as it may, I provided them with two more pieces of t-shirt fabric to SEW new bean bags. They can decorate it before adding the beans and sealing the bags.

Please help them with the process without doing it for them.

I am securing a local tour permit to visit InsideOut sports for our bike safety requirement July 23 (our next den meeting). I will update everyone in two weeks if that is a go.

Below are two articles that came in the Sunday Paper for July 5th. The scouts could read these and complete their “What Makes America Special Achievement” (achievement 3).
