Webelos I,
I hope everyone enjoyed the holiday with a little turkey and football!
With the pack meeting rapidly approaching, I need to know what awards your son has earned. Please send me your list by Wednesday.
All the boys are still working on their Webelos badge. There are 2 requirements that must be met first, Fitness and Citizen. At the last den meeting we started working on fitness. If your son did not attend the meeting, they MUST complete this at home and present their work to either Al or myself before they can earn their badge. For those that participated, please bring your week of planned meals or a journal of all that you ate for the week to the December 10th den meeting to complete this requirement.
See you on Thursday at the pack meeting!
Kelly
Hey everyone,
I hope you had a great Thanksgiving with family and friends. I want to remind everyone that this Thursday we will have a Pack meeting. Vivek, if you could remember to bring the pins and loops and patches and parents, if you could let your Den leaders know what loops and such your son’s have earned. This meeting will be from 7-8 p.m. and we will have some details on our planned food drive that we will be working on during this time.
This activity will be followed by a flag ceremony, a game and any awards that the boys have won this fall. If you haven’t gotten through things just yet, don’t worry, there will be another opportunity for a Pack meeting in the not to distant future.
I look forward to seeing you and all the boys at the meeting on Thursday.
Yours in Scouting,
Randy
P.S. I haven’t heard the details on the Cary Christmas Parade yet, but expect to hear something soon. Once I get those details, I’ll get them out to you. What I do know is that it will be on Saturday, December 12 and we will be participating as both a Pack and Troop. Keep watching your email for more details.
Hi all,
I wanted to send out a reminder that the District is doing a BALOO Course this Saturday, November 21st, from 9am to 5pm.
Location: Cary Presbyterian Church – 614 Griffis St.
In order to take a Cub Scout Pack camping, you are required to have a leader present that has taken this course. Below is a link to the flyer for the course. If you have any leaders that haven’t registered and are planning on taking this, please let me know by Wednesday so we can include them in the participant count that we use to determine our food and material preparations. After notifying me that they plan to attend, please mail the registration to the Council with the $25 course fee. If you have any questions on this, please let me know.

All,
It is that time.
You can plan to pick up your popcorn on Saturday or Sunday from 12-4 p.m. in the Twin Lakes Subdivision at 340 New Milford Rd., Cary 27519. Twin Lakes is near Davis Drive and McCrimmon Corners Shopping plaza in Morrisville.
If you can give Andrea Wright a call to set up a pick up time for your son’s popcorn. It is important that we pick up the orders and deliver them this week as we had promised our customers that their orders would be in this before Thanksgiving. Let’s not disappoint them. Great job on the sale everyone and lets support Leopolda and Andrea and make their jobs easy this weekend.
Also, just a reminder that we will be having a Pack meeting on December 3 at 7 p.m. at the Triangle Church building. There will be more details out about this soon, but we want to take this opportunity to recognize any of the achievements that the boys have earned/completed this summer and fall. Please let your den leader know what achievements and belt loops your son has completed soon and I ask that the Den leaders make sure that Vivek gets details about whatever awards you have for your boys no later than next Friday, November 20.
Talk to you all soon and remember that there will be no meeting in two weeks on November 26 due to the Thanksgiving holiday. I hope everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving.
Randy
Parents and leaders,
Thanks for attending the meeting tonight. I feel great about the volunteers that we had and encourage everyone to participate with the upcoming events as we have a lot of great events planned. As a reminder, here are the committees that we have and that need support:
We need some assistants for the younger dens, so please consider helping these folks out in these roles.
As I mentioned, think about it through this month and let me know how you would like to help the Pack at our planned pack meeting in December.
ANNOUNCEMENT: The Boy Scout Troop is moving their meeting night to Tuesdays starting in January and it was discussed that we need to move the Cub Scout meeting night to coincide with the Boy Scouts for many reasons. So the plan is that starting with our first meeting in January we will go to the second and fourth Tuesdays each month.
Please mark your calendars for this change and also let me know if this creates any hardship for you. We want all of the boys to be able to participate in Scouting and I want to work with you, so let me know.
UPCOMING EVENTS through the end of the year:
Den Meetings on Thursday, Nov. 12
No meeting on Thursday, Nov. 24 (Thanksgiving)
Pack Meeting on Thursday, December 3 (we are going to start having Pack meetings every other month on the first Tuesday of the month)
Den Meeting on Thursday, December 10 (this will be the final meeting of the year due to Christmas holidays)
Cary Christmas Parade on Saturday, December 12 (more details on this to come, but I’ve talked with the Boy Scout Troop and I believe our Troop and Pack will be walking in this together, we’re even talking about doing a float again, so keep watching your email for details, but save the date. This is always fun for the boys.)
Lastly, Kelly Coman is going to be providing details on a community service food drive that we did last year and will be doing again this year, so watch for her email and there will be further details at the December 3 Pack meeting.
In the Future: There are plans to go to the next Scout Night with the Carolina Hurricanes (this should fulfill one of the Tiger’s Go-See-Its). Watch for emails on the details as we need to buy tickets by December 30. The game itself is the Hurricanes against the Avs and it is Friday January 8.
There are a whole bunch of other fun events upcoming. Thanks for all who are already volunteering and I am excited about the future of Pack 393.
Yours in Scouting,
Randy
Parents and Leaders,
Just a reminder that we will have a combined leaders and parent meeting tonight to get organized for the rest of the year. This is an important meeting so I have asked that a representative from each family with a boy in the pack attend this meeting.
The meeting is at the Triangle Church building from 7-8 p.m. I plan to go no longer than an hour tonight.
See you all there.
Randy
All,
Those of us who went camping, you are all now veterans of a true camping experience (wet camping). Hope you had a good time. The boys had a lot of fun on the “trail” despite the rain and it was fun firing the bottle rocket into the air (thanks Neil).
Anyway, before I head out of town again, I wanted to get a quick message out to remind those who have not turned in their popcorn money to get in touch with Leopolda to schedule a time to go to her house to get your money turned in. I think the boys have done well in selling this year.
I am requesting that every member family have at least one person in attendance as well as we are going to be planning through the end of the year and will begin the planning for the Pinewood Derby, the Blue and Gold and camping in the spring. We have had several committee members move up with the graduating Webelos to the Boy Scouts and we need to fill in those positions. So please come prepared to volunteer on a committee or with a den. We have some great den leaders, but we also need to identify some backups for them. In addition, I need to find someone to back me up as the Assistant Cubmaster. These are all important roles and we need everyone’s participation to make things run smoothly.
I look forward to seeing folks on Nov. 5. Have a great Halloween if we don’t speak before then.
Randy
Cubmaster Pack 393pine
Hey Parents and kids,
Wow, hard to believe that tomorrow night many of us will be under the stars and enjoying smores.
Pack 393 is staying in Poplar A (you will see it on the map attached).
All campsites have flush toilets and showers available. My advice having been at Durant for Summer camp in Red Oak is to reserve one bathroom and one shower for adults only. This will help to keep the toilets and showers clean for adults and teach some responsibility to the Webelos.
Remember a scout is clean. (Borrowing the 10th point of the scout law)
Maps are available online at www.campdurant.com. The camp address, for those with GPS or want to Google Map it is
Those who are camping Friday night should plan to head down to the camp and once you arrive I am sure there will be someone to direct you to Poplar A. It takes about 1 and a half hours to get there from most points in the Triangle, so plan accordingly. It gets dark shortly after 7 these days.
Vivek will be in charge for those on Friday night and will hand them off to Juan for Saturday night.
Council office has approved us to park all vehicles on the side of the roads at Durant. Only utilize one side of the road and pull off the road as much as possible.
One important note, We can NOT have ANY Vehicles in any campsites. They must be on the road. Only Trailers can be parked in campsites. Be very careful when backing up trailers as there are lots of places to get “Stuck” in some campsites (i.e. Large Holes, ditches, etc.)
So, each person (scout, adult and sibling) should have a bag lunch packed and brought to carry in the chuck wagons along with the materials that are needed. I need to ask all the Wolves to bring their books as we need at least two (I’ve got one from last year) to carry in the wagons. The rest of the materials I will bring with me on Saturday morning. Also, we need a parent or two to plan to come back to our campsite to start the charcoal fires for the hobo pack meals Saturday night as we only have an hour and 15 minutes slated to put this together. It would probably be good for a couple of parents to head back during the award ceremony to being having things prepared as an assembly line for the meal prep.
They also note that a couple of the events are “messy” and “wet” and the boys should each pack an extra pair of clothes in a plastic bag to change into in case they do get messy. Also note that there is a good chance of rain on Saturday, so prepare with ponchos and rain gear as the event won’t be canceled for bad weather.
All, this will be a grand adventure. I look forward to seeing the boys (and the rest) have a bunch of fun and make memories for us all.
See you out there on Saturday,
Randy
