Last weekend’s campout and upcoming meeting

Monday, May 24th, 2010

All,

I hope you had as much fun as I did on the campout. We made it back with just a couple of scrapes, bug bites and one bunny burn, but I think the boys were sufficiently worn out and enjoyed themselves. I know Brian Flack took a lot of pictures and hopefully we have many others as well.

A big thanks to the Boy Scouts and Mr. Rudy and Mr. Bill for coordinating the compass, archery, and BB gun range activities. I think everyone had a great time and we appreciated the Older Boy Scout’s help and support.

Just a couple of meeting notes, none of the cub scout dens will have a regular meeting this week due to the campout (other than the Webelos II, who had an already planned cookout for Tuesday, so Kelly will get you all details).

So our next meeting will be on June 8 and then we’ll meet again on June 22. The June 22 regular meeting will be converted to a Pack meeting and we will give out all of the earned badge/rank advancements at this hour-long celebration of our year. Leaders, we will have a meeting on Thursday, June 3 at 7 p.m. at the building to coordinate for the Pack meeting and awards and to coordinate plans for the summer (end of summer bike ride, Camping trip scheduled for late September, etc.). Any other parents who would like to join us are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Thanks again to everyone for a great campout that I’m sure is etched in our kids minds. My kids have been talking about the Vindow Viper all morning.

ONLY FOR WEBELOS II PARENTS BRIDGING TO TROOP 393

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

Note the information below regarding the Troop and a meeting about their summer camp information, medical forms, etc. If your son has bridged into this Troop, I encourage you to attend as there is still time for them to join the Troop at camp and help your son get well down the road to earning his Eagle. Camp is a great way for them to earn a number of merit badges in a short time.

If you have any questions about it, you can email me directly or if you can’t attend, but are interested in your boy going to camp with the Troop, let me know as I’ll be there on Tuesday night.

Just a note, as of this Tuesday night (even though the Webelos II will be racing in the Pinewood Derby with us), they should be attending their new Troop selection. There will not be a meeting of the Webelos II this Tuesday night and there will not be a Webelos II den with Pack 393 until we bridge up the Webelos I in May.

Blue and Gold - Recap

Monday, February 22nd, 2010

All,

I had a great time at the Blue and Gold and enjoyed seeing the Webelos II bridge over into Boy Scouting. I want to send a special thanks again to Marilyn and Brian Adams, who are new to the Pack and I thought did a great job (with help from some vets) of decorating and making the day special for the boys. My sons (and daughters) had a great time.

Just a couple of reminders:

We do have den meetings this Tuesday night at 6:45 at the building. We then have the Pinewood Derby coming up on Saturday and I’m sure Brian will be getting more details out about that in the next couple of days.

Following that, we will have our representatives to the District Pinewood Derby racing at the District event on March 6th (the following weekend, hard to believe it is already March). Also that first week of March, we have a Pack meeting on Tuesday, March 2 so be sure to get your Den leaders any achievements and belt loops that your son has earned this coming Tuesday so that he/she can let Vivek know for the awards at the Pack meeting.

Finally, there will be a committee meeting on Thursday, March 4 and all leaders and any parents are invited to be there. This will be an important one as we plan out the rest of the spring and make plans for the other den bridging. So leaders, please come prepared to provide an update on where the boys are and if there is anything that we need to do to get the boys ready to move on to their new dens by the end of May.

Thanks and I look forward to seeing all of you at the Pinewood Derby next Saturday. Also note that we will be re-chartering the Pack at the Pinewood Derby, so please plan to sign your boy up for another great year of scouting.

Have a great start to the week and I’ll see many of you on Tuesday night.

Webelos I meeting tonight

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Webelos I,

Quick reminder that we will be meeting tonight as the pack has officially switched to Tuesday nights. We will be going over some of the final requirements for the boys to earn their Webelos badge. Please plan on attending. If you need a derby car, I believe that they are still available to purchase.

Over the weekend, Al and I made a schedule through May. We will review the schedule and discuss the requirements that will need to be completed at home.

The Occoneechee Council has set up a Webelos Day at Camp Durant on March 20th. I will be taking Ryan and have space for some additional scouts. I am also looking for 1 parent to attend. The cost is $12 and I will have sign up sheets tomorrow night.

Al and I are looking forward to an exciting and fun spring. See you tomorrow night.

Kelly
